10
Mesa 9.0 Release Notes / October 8th, 2012

11
12

13Mesa 9.0 is a new development release.
14People who are concerned with stability and reliability should stick
15with a previous release or wait for Mesa 9.0.1.
16

17

18Mesa 9.0 implements the OpenGL 3.1 API, but the version reported by
19glGetString(GL_VERSION) or glGetIntegerv(GL_MAJOR_VERSION) /
20glGetIntegerv(GL_MINOR_VERSION) depends on the particular driver being used.
21Some drivers don't support all the features required in OpenGL 3.1. OpenGL
223.1 is only available if requested at context creation
23because GL_ARB_compatibility is not supported.
24

38Note: some of the new features are only available with certain drivers.
39

40
41

42
Added new Gallium3D - nv30 driver

43
Added new Gallium3D - radeonsi driver

44
Added OpenCL state tracker Clover

45
Completed VDPAU state tracker (video decoding support is currently limited to MPEG1 and MPEG2)

47
GL_ARB_blend_func_extended

48
GL_ARB_debug_output

62
EGL_KHR_create_context

63
EGL_KHR_surfaceless_context - This replaces the
64EGL_KHR_surfaceless_{gles1,gles2,opengl} extensions that were never approved
65by Khronos.

66
EGL_EXT_create_context_robustness

67

79The legacy/static Makefile system (ex: 'make linux-dri') has been removed.
80
81The two supported build methods are now autoconf/automake and SCons.
82

83
Removed support for GL_ARB_shadow_ambient extension

84
Removed Gallium3D - nvfx driver (use nv30 instead)

85

86libGLU has been moved into its own repository, found at http://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/glu/
