project 202(but usable outside of the Gnome platform), it is free software available 203under the <a href="http://www.opensource.org/licenses/mit-license.html">MIT 204License</a>. XML itself is a metalanguage to design markup languages, i.e. 205text language where semantic and structure are added to the content using 206extra "markup" information enclosed between angle brackets. HTML is the most 207well-known markup language.
