powerpc/pmac: Early debug output on screen on 64-bit macs We have a bunch of CONFIG_PPC_EARLY_DEBUG_* options that are intended for bringup/debug only. They hard wire a machine specific udbg backend very early on (before we even probe the platform), and use whatever tricks are available on each machine/cpu to be able to get some kind of output out there early on. So far, on powermac with no serial ports, we have CONFIG_PPC_EARLY_DEBUG_BOOTX to use the low-level btext engine on the screen, but it doesn't do much, at least on 64-bit. It only really gets enabled after the platform has been probed and the MMU enabled. This adds a way to enable it much earlier. From prom_init.c (while still running with Open Firmware), we grab the screen details and set things up using the physical address of the frame buffer. Then btext itself uses the "rm_ci" feature of the 970 processor (Real Mode Cache Inhibited) to access it while in real mode. We need to do a little bit of reorg of the btext code to inline things better, in order to limit how much we touch memory while in this mode as the consequences might be ... interesting. This successfully allowed me to debug problems early on with the G5 (related to gold being broken vs. ppc64 kernels). Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>

[POWERPC] Use udbg_early_init() on ppc32 udbg_early_init() is a function used on 64 bit systems, which initializes whichever early udbg backend is configured. This function is not called on 32-bit, however if btext early debug is enabled it does have an explicit, inline, #ifdef-ed assignment performing analagous initialization. This patch makes things more uniform by folding the btext initialization as an option into udbg_early_init() and calling that from the 32-bit setup path. [POWERPC] Fix various offb issues This patch fixes a few issues in offb: - A test was inverted causing the palette hack to never work (no device node was passed down to the init function) - Some cards seem to have their assigned-addresses property in a random order, thus we need to try using of_get_pci_address() first, which will fail if it's not a PCI device, and fallback to of_get_address() in that case. of_get_pci_address() properly parsees assigned-addresses to test the BAR number and thus will get it right whatever the order is. - Some cards (like GXT4500) provide a linebytes of 0xffffffff in the device-tree which does no good. This patch handles that by using the screen width when that happens. (Also fixes btext.c while at it). - Add detection of the GXT4500 in addition to the GXT2000 for the palette hacks (we use the same hack, palette is linear in register space at offset 0x6000). [PATCH] powerpc: Remove device_node addrs/n_addr The pre-parsed addrs/n_addrs fields in struct device_node are finally gone. Remove the dodgy heuristics that did that parsing at boot and remove the fields themselves since we now have a good replacement with the new OF parsing code. [PATCH] powerpc: Separate usage of KERNELBASE and PAGE_OFFSET This patch separates usage of KERNELBASE and PAGE_OFFSET. I haven't looked at any of the PPC32 code, if we ever want to support Kdump on PPC we'll have to do another audit, ditto for iSeries. This patch makes PAGE_OFFSET the constant, it'll always be 0xC * 1 gazillion for 64-bit. To get a physical address from a virtual one you subtract PAGE_OFFSET, _not_ KERNELBASE. KERNELBASE is the virtual address of the start of the kernel, it's often the same as PAGE_OFFSET, but _might not be_. If you want to know something's offset from the start of the kernel you should subtract KERNELBASE. [PATCH] powerpc: Unify udbg (#2) This patch unifies udbg for both ppc32 and ppc64 when building the merged achitecture. xmon now has a single "back end". The powermac udbg stuff gets enriched with some ADB capabilities and btext output. In addition, the early_init callback is now called on ppc32 as well, approx. in the same order as ppc64 regarding device-tree manipulations. The init sequences of ppc32 and ppc64 are getting closer, I'll unify them in a later patch. For now, you can force udbg to the scc using "sccdbg" or to btext using "btextdbg" on powermacs. I'll implement a cleaner way of forcing udbg output to something else than the autodetected OF output device in a later patch. powerpc: Merge in the ppc64 version of the prom code. This brings in the ppc64 version of prom_init.c, prom.c and btext.c and makes them work for ppc32. This also brings in the new calling convention, where the first entry to the kernel (with r5 != 0) goes to the prom_init code, which then restarts from the beginning (with r5 == 0) after it has done its stuff. For now this also brings in the ppc32 version of setup.c. It also merges lmb.h. Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
